Chris Drury and the New York Rangers expected to complete a blockbuster trade per trusted source, Arthur Staple of the Athletic.

According to Staple the New York Rangers have been linked to pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Vladislav Gavriko of the LA Kings.
Newly hired general management Ken Holland may not be prepared to pay the salary that Gavrikov make command which would open an opportunity for general manager Chris Drury to sign him to a new contract.

Rangers looking to alter the defense this offseason

Many pundits in the NHL feel that the Rangers are preparing a major overhaul of the roster after Drury made several trades during the season to change the dynamics of the organization.
The process started during a chaotic 2024-25 season, when they dealt captain Jacob Trouba early in the campaign, then also sent off the likes of Reilly Smith, Ryan Lindgren, Jimmy Vesey, Filip Chytil and Kaapo Kakko in other deals. Dave Litman

Rumors have been swirling around the Rangers that the team is preparing to trade restricted free agent defenseman K'Andre Miller in part making the defence looked different and target their money to a player they would prefer.
Gavrikov finished this past season with 30 points in 82 games with a career high 140 blocked shots in a personal best 23:05 average time on ice per game. He's projected by AFP Analytics to pull in a five-year, $5.4 million contract on his next deal. - Dave Litman

Gavirkov a different type of defenseman that would help Rangers

Adding Gavrikov would give the Rangers a more reliable defenseman in their own end while still producing offensively for the Blueshirts.
Drury will need to make some moves to his help his cap situation as he only has $8.4 million in cap space this offseason and would like to make major alterations to the team which include trading Miller, forward star Chris Kreider while discussing the fate of superstar forward Artemi Panarin.
It remains to be seen when the Rangers intend to start their changes, but with the draft on June 27th and unrestricted free agency opening on July 1st Rangers fans won't have to wait long.
