Concern rises as former New York Rangers forward takes indefinite leave of absence

The Vancouver Canucks will pull into Madison Square Garden short-handed tonight, as it's been announced that J.T. Miller won't be with the team.

According to Canucks management the former Rangers forward has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the organization.

«Right now, our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him,» Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement released Tuesday.

There have been no details released other than Miller is absent for "personal reasons" at the moment.

NHL Insider who covers the Vancouver Canucks Patrick Johnston followed up on the report stating it isn't due to alcohol or drug abuse-related matters, thankfully.

Been told that J.T. Miller's personal leave is not related to substance or alcohol abuse or anything at all like that.

Miller has been a key piece in the Canucks lineup who will be sorely missed. He's second on the team in points with 16( 6 G, 10 A) and has lead the team with six goals.

Miller was recently benched against the Nashville Predators and subsequently lost 5-3. His time on ice was drastically lower than usual with a 11:49 TOI during the game.

Rick Tocchet's statement on that decision:

«I went with the guys who I thought could get us back in the game,» Canucks coach Rick Tocchet said postgame. «We need some key guys to make key plays for us.»

Something is happening in Vancouver and it doesn't seem to be anything good.
