Scott Morrow made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers last night. The defenseman was acquired in a sign-and-trade from the Carolina Hurricanes and got a look in last night's game.

While Morrow would be given the chance to make the opening night roster during training camp, he'd be sent back down to the AHL to continue his development.
He'd be one of the last players sent down to the AHL
Fast forward to November this year, and he'd have the ability to make a name for himself against the red-hot Detroit Red Wings.
With Will Borgen out of the lineup due to an injury, the Rangers defenseman would have a chance to show what he's made of in the regular season.
He'd slot in next to young defenseman Urho Vaakanainen, with David Quinn overseeing the action last night.
Ironically.
The 23-year-old defenseman played 9:56 minutes in his NHL season debut, the fewest amongst all Rangers blueliners.
«I liked his game. I thought Scotty did a good job,» Quinn said. «I thought he kept it simple. He moves the puck well, gets us out of our end when we needed to get out of our end when the chances presented themselves. I thought he defended well.»

While he didn't have a lot of time to show all of his skills, the limited utilization was efficient for him, as he showed his high hockey IQ when it was needed the most last night.
Morrow, originally a 40th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, was traded to the New York Rangers by the Carolina Hurricanes in the summer.
In return, the Carolina Hurricanes received former 1st-round pick K'Andre Miller, who has taken a role in the top-four of the Hurricanes' blueline.
It's difficult to know who will win this trade, but Morrow could develop into a top defenseman depending on how well he adjusts to his new setting.
