NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman isn't surprised that New York Rangers forward Juuso Parssinen has cleared waivers. There remains interest in Parssinen from other teams, and what happens next is all dependent upon Chris Drury.

Forward Juuso Parssinen was unable to secure a bottom-six role in the Rangers' lineup. As a result, Parssinen was placed on waivers yesterday by the Rangers and will now be reporting to the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack.
The former 210th pick of the Nashville Predators had done his best to stay relevant in the New York Rangers lineup, but couldn't compete with players like Noah Laba, who pushed him out.
This season with the Rangers, he's played a total of 14 games and scored 3 points (2-1) under Mike Sullivan.

Now, he'll be joining forward Brennan Othmann and other New York Rangers prospects in Hartford.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman expressed an interesting sentiment regarding his situation:
«Not surprised Juuso Parssinen cleared waivers. But I think there is interest, depending on what the Rangers are willing to do. Next season at $1.25M is the challenge.»

If there is some interest in other teams trying to acquire Parssinen, as an RFA, you have to wonder where the starting point for a reclamation project like Parssinen begins.
The Blackhawks traded former 1st-round pick Lukas Reichel to the Vancouver Canucks and received a 4th-round pick in return.
For a cost-controlled contract, and a project like Parssinen, just speculating, but maybe that or below a 4th-round pick could be what Chris Drury and the Rangers receive in return.
Parssinen has played a total of 151 games in the NHL and scored 56 points (22-34) split between the Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators, and New York Rangers.
