Chris Kreider was interviewed by NHL Insider Mollie Walker today, due to the fact that he and his former Rangers teammates will be taking part in the Shoulder Check Showcase. He issued an emotional statement, after meeting with fans today who were said to have expressed appreciation and gratitude for his time as a Blueshirt.

Chris Kreider played a total of 883 games in the NHL, and until now, all for the New York Rangers. He served as the longest-tenured Blueshirt, a 13-year veteran who would be traded this postseason to the Anaheim Ducks.
While not surprising, Kreider's absence will be painful, as he was a fan favorite in New York.
He's scored a total of 326 goals wearing the same uniform for over a decade, and has given fans plenty of memories along the way.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation while speaking with the fans, and according to him, it sounds like it was a special moment. A great way for him and the fanbase to reconnect one more time ahead of the Shoulder Check Showcase.
Kreider has played 883 games as a Ranger, scoring 582 points (326-256), with his goal total as a Ranger placing him behind legends like Jean Ratelle.
He has one year left on his contract, which pays him $6.5 million AAV, a deal where Pat Verbeek was able to stomach eating the whole cap hit.
But the loss of Kreider in the lineup marks the end of an era for the Rangers, who were cup contenders.
Now, they'll have to continue their teardown in order to rebuild into a win-now team. A horrendous notion after a disappointing season in 2024.
He'll now face challenges ahead in Anaheim, wearing the Ducks' orange.
