Very concerning scenes emerge from the Rangers vs Mammoth game on Monday night as star goaltender Igor Shesterkin is forced to exit the game due to a brutal lower-body injury.
Monday night at Madison Square Garden turned tense when Shesterkin went down and needed help getting off. Vince Z. Mercogliano reported he was not putting weight on his left leg, leaving Quick to step into the net.
"JJ Peterka was just driving to the net and it looked like Igor's right leg got caught in an awkward position. He went down and was slamming the ice in pain, with the trainer now out taking a look. Scary moment for #NYR...
He's actually not putting weight on the left leg and needed help off the ice. He went straight to the locker room, with Jonathan Quick now stepping into the #NYR net."

Shesterkin had started against the Utah Mammoth matchup, however with just seven mintues remaining in the first he was forced to leave and it's safe to say it doesn't look good.

🚨 #NYR goaltender Igor Shesterkin leaves game with left leg injury vs Utah, helped off the ice by Gavrikov and a trainer. Jonathan Quick enters.
Shesterkin entered the night at 17-12-4 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. The 30-year-old goaltender erases mistakes and buys confidence. When he is steady, the Rangers can take more chances through the neutral zone and recover.
Hopefully it's not as bad as it looks, but due to the fact that Shesterkin couldn't put any weight on his leg it's safe to assume that he won't be returning to the Rangers game tonight or anytime soon.
UPDATE: Igor Shesterkin (lower body) will not return tonight.
Stay tuned as more details are sure to follow.
