Loaned: New York Rangers organization announces unexpected move with 23-year-old goaltender

Just moments ago, the New York Rangers announced an unexpected move involving a 23-year-old goaltender prospect.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the New York Rangers, American Hockey League affiliate team, the Hartford Wolf Pack, announced that they have loaned 23-year-old goaltender Talyn Boyko the the KalPa of Liiga of the Champion Hockey League.

KalPa is a traditional ice hockey team from Kuopio, Finland, founded in 1929 and focused on ice hockey since the 1950s. The road through Finnish Liiga hasn't always been easy. KalPa has also played in lower divisions, but since 2005, the team has been a regular playoff contender. Highlights include a CHL playoff appearance and Liiga silver in 2016-2017, and a semifinal spot in 2023-2024.
The biggest milestone came in 2024-2025, when KalPa won the Finnish Championship, becoming the reigning champions of Liiga. It's a proud moment for Kuopio and a testament to years of hard work and growth.
KalPa has produced NHL stars like Kimmo Timonen, Olli Jokinen, and Sami Kapanen, and today continues to develop top talent like NHL players Eetu Luostarinen and Kasperi Kapanen.

Tayln Boyko secured a one-year deal with the New York Rangers
During the offseason, New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that the team had agreed to terms with goaltender Talyn Boyko on a one-year contract extension, worth $775,000k.
In five games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Boyko posted a 2-2-0 record and earned a 2.61 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.
However, the 6-7, 200-pound goaltender will now take his game over to Champions Hockey League in Finland, in hopes of developing his skills and getting more playing time.
