New York Rangers newest head coach Mike Sullivan is already holding his players accountable for the way they performed during Tuesday nights preseason game against the Boston Bruins.

On Tuesday night the New York Rangers faced the Boston Bruins and all was going well during the first two periods as they had a 4-1 lead heading into the third period. However, during the third the Rangers must've lost momentum as they gave up three goals and ending up losing in overtime.
With that being said, we all know that it was just a preseason game and it meant nothing. But Mike Sullivan made it clear that he wasn't happy about the way they lost the game.

Mike Sullivan Calls Out The New York Rangers Following 5-4 OT Loss

Following the game, Mike Sullivan opened up and stated that he wasn't happy with the way the team lost, as they didn't reach the right standards.
Here's what he said:
Even though it's an exhibition game, does a loss like this bother #NYR coach Mike Sullivan?

"Of course it does. I said it to the players after the game. It's not about the loss, it's about how we lost, right? One of the things we talked about on Day 1 was the responsibility that we all have to live up to and set a standard here, a standard of excellence that I think we all aspire to have in the environment every day. We all have a responsibility to that. For me, that's the most important thing is living up to that standard and ultimately that standard becomes what we're willing to accept.

If we're willing to accept this, where do we go from here? And that's the conversation that we had with the group afterward. At the end of the day, I get it, it's an exhibition game. We haven't worked on a lot of things, it's a work in progress. It's not about the loss, it's about how we lost... I think the takeaway is we have to expect more from one another."
It's hard not to agree with Mike Sullivan, as we witnessed much of this during the 2024-25 season with the Rangers.
