The New York Rangers kicked off their offseason with a full head of steam, trading away 25-year old K'Andre Miller in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes and there is now a major silver lining in the deal according to Elliotte Friedman.

It was an under the radar trade for New York Rangers GM Chris Drury, who has faced some controversial responses following the trade of K'Andre Miller.
Many don't seem to be waiting until the season starts to judge, as there is some very intriguing info on who the Rangers acquired.
The main asset acquired was drafted capital, but also 22-year old defenseman Scott Morrow, who is a fluent puck moving defenseman.
Morrow was Carolina's top prospect, and is expected to reach a ceiling-high of top-4 on the Rangers blueline.

Scott Morrow has potential to become a great defenseman for the New York Rangers

Morrow may not be on Miller's calibre at the moment, but according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, after some time developing his game it could be a huge steal for the Rangers.
«The Hurricanes were willing to take a bet the Rangers weren't,» Friedman explained. «The Rangers weren't willing to go long term with Miller. They were only willing to go, I think, a couple of years. Obviously, Carolina was not afraid of that. We'll see how that works long term. Who made the right bet?»

-Elliotte Friedman

Friedman notes that his defensive game does need work, but at 6-foot-one and 194lbs, with still some weight to put on, he's expected to be a versatile defenseman: potentially an Adam Fox type of defender, something the Rangers can truly benefit from.
