NHL Reporter Jackie Redmond interviewed Mike Sullivan and came away with some great quotes of how he views the team's purpose in 2025-26. The Rangers Head Coach believes in gradual improvements, and daily practice will keep you on pace for the goal.
While the play at home has been questionable, the Rangers have developed into road warriors this season under Mike Sullivan.
His leadership has helped the team overcome some struggles early in the year to become a thorn in their opponents' side on the road, as the Blueshirts dominated the Lightning on the road.
The 7-3 victory saw the team improve its production, with Vinnie Trocheck, Adam Fox, and Artemi Panarin being players who had a multi-point game.
The Rangers vs Lightning was a game in which we saw the team find itself after locking it away during the end of Laviolette's tenure.
The improvements speak for themselves, and Mike Sullivan addressed his philosophy, which favours incremental success, with realistic expectations.
He'd remark after the team's 7-3 win over the Lightning in a sobering assessment of how he sees the team progressing, but not where he wants to be:
«I thought tonight, I don't think we were at our best,» Sullivan admitted postgame, via The New York Post. «We were opportunistic. We had some pretty good looks, and we scored on them. You could say the same about the last game. So, I don't think they were the cleanest games from an execution standpoint on either side of the puck.»
The Rangers have made improvements in play, especially on the road this season.
In order to become the playoff team they need to be, there needs to be consistency at home, too.
