The New York Rangers have one top prospect on THN's latest release of the top 100 prospects 21 and under today. Featured in the article is former 1st-round pick of the Rangers, Gabe Perreault.
Gabe Perreault was selected 23rd overall in the 1st-round of the 2023 NHL Draft.
The former Boston College University forward made his NHL debut last season and played a total of 5 games at the end of the 2024-25 season. He'd be held scoreless before returning to the organization this year for training camp.
The Rangers' top prospect approached his 2025-26 season debut with enthusiasm: "Good things will happen".
Despite not making the roster, he'd have a good showing for the team in 2025-26, playing three games and scoring his 1st-NHL point, an assist.
Perreault has been mentioned in The Hockey News Top 100 Prospect 21-and-under list, at #49 the massive lives spanning all 32 NHL clubs.
Quite a stunning rank for someone who's played only a total of 8 NHL games.
The list is coincidentally called "Future Watch".
Future Watch is based on a survey of NHL scouts, while the PU Top 100 is cobbled together by Kennedy based on his projections of what the players will be once they hit their primes.
Unrelated to the Upper Deck card inserts, which are valuable, depending on the player, and whether or not they come with a swatch and an autograph.

The former Boston College forward still needs to work on his game before he is NHL-ready. Mike Sullivan explains his cautious approach to Gabe Perreault:
«Our intention is to try to set him up for success so he can play with strengths,» Sullivan said of Perreault. «I don't know that it makes a whole lot of sense to call up a player like that and put him in a bottom-six role. I think he's a guy that potentially could help us if we can get the best version of him, so it's a great opportunity for him.»
And with that kind of decision making by Mike Sullivan, he can continue to grow into the top-six player the New York Rangers need.
In 13 games played with the Hartford Wolfpack this season, he's scored 11 points (5-6)
