NHL Analyst Have Zero Hope In The New York Rangers Bouncing Back During The 2025-26 Season
The New York Rangers aren't considered a bounce-back candidate by NHL Analysts Stu Grimson and Tony Luftman. The analysts discussed the offseason moves by GM Chris Drury, bringing in Mike Sullivan as the head coach, while trading K'Andre Miller. None of whom are convinced that they're a prime bounce-back candidate in 2025.
The New York Rangers could be a bounce-back team in 2025. With the additions of Vladislav Gavrikov and Mike Sullivan, there is hope that the team will return to its former glory of yesteryear.
It is doubtful they will win a Presidents' Trophy again anytime soon, but the curse seems to have hit them the most. After winning the trophy, they'd bottom out in 2024-25 and fall in the Metropolitan Division to 5th place, and be fringe wild-card playoff candidates.
A string of words never thought to be uttered by a team who were once dubbed the "Come back kids", along with the phrase which went out of style as soon as it was issued, "No Quit in NY'.
However, with the latest adds, NHL analysts Stu Grimson, Tony Luftman, and Thomas Hickey discussed the Rangers' situation for the 2025-26 season.
In what should be viewed as a positive next step for the team, they remain unconvinced that they'll be anywhere near the playoffs but are instead a "bubble team".
A term meant to describe a team on the cusp of their goals, whether it be a playoff run or a Stanley Cup.
The New York Rangers do have better days ahead, but after moving out a significant chunk of their past core, you have to approach them with caution.
Nothing is given in the NHL, and everything is earned. For this Rangers team, they're unproven in the league, and a player like JT Miller or Vinnie Trocheck may be the ones to lead the team into the future.
For now, it's best to say they're on the bubble of something better.
