The New York Rangers surrendered 5 goals and left goalie Igor Shesterkin unprotected today. The Rangers have succumbed to what could be another slump in the making. Peter Laviolette fielded questions about, who is really to blame at this point in the season.

USA Today's Vince Mercogliano would ask Rangers Head Coach Peter Laviolette about whose to blame for the team's struggles yet again.

With a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the team was unable to mount a comeback and provide support for backstop Igor Shesterkin.

The thrashing the team saw today, would send Shesterkin's save percentage spiral, and he had a .762, giving up 5 goals.

All the while, the defense would fail to hold the Kings youth movement in check as multiple forwards had a big game today.

So according to Peter Laviolette, who should be blamed? Who should be held accountable?

The New York Rangers will have to adjust once again to counter the rot that seems to permeate the lineup.

After the win against the Buffalo Sabres, it sounded like the team was ready to batten down the hatches and play a full two-hundred-foot game.

Yet today, it sounds as if the team is once again off the rails, and has failed to accomplish a victory against one of the Pacific Division's best organizations.

But historically, Pistol Pete is less effective in his second coaching year. By their works you have to say that the Rangers do not look like they're playing for this coach.

If you're going to position yourself as a Stanley Cup contender, you can't lose games against the best in the West.

The Kings are 2nd in the Pacific.

Is it an accountability problem for the Rangers? The statement provided to Vince Mercogliano seems to lack coherent criticism for the team, and a game plan that could bring the Rangers out of the dark.

The Rangers are now 15-13-1 in the Metro, not a winning record.
