Roster Transaction: New York Rangers Complete Another Move Involving 28-Year Old Defenseman
Earlier on Thursday, the New York Rangers organization completed another transaction regarding 28-year old defenseman and captain of their AHL affiliate team.
As the Rangers 2025-26 regular season is just five days away, we are expected to see a lot more interesting moves from the organization.
Most recently, the New York Rangers are one of many teams who have placed someone on waivers on October 1st, as they have decided to place defenseman and captain of their AHL affiliate team, the Hartford Wolf Pack, Casey Fitzgerald on waivers.
However, now that it is a day later that Casey Fitzgerald's fate with the New York Rangers organization has been confirmed, due to the fact that he managed to clear waivers and will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
UPDATE: Casey Fitzgerald has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Casey Fitzgerald To Provide The Hartford Wolf Pack With Some Solid Depth
As stated before the Casey Fitzgerald will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack, something the Rangers got lucky with as the 28-year old defenseman will provide significant depth to their roster.
Along with that, Fitzgerald will now continue to be a very valuable defensive asset for the organization, and could very well make a return to the NHL this upcoming season with the Rangers as his last appearance was in the 2022-23 season with the Panthers.
Casey Fitzgerald spent all of the 2024-25 season with the New York Rangers' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Where he managed to play 66 games, tallying a total of five goals, 16 assists, 21 points, and 75 penalty minutes.
