Roster Transaction: Rangers Assign Struggling Prospect To The AHL While Recalling An Unexpected Replacement

Just moments ago the New York Rangers took to social media to announce that they have assigned offensive prospect Brennan Othmann to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, along with recalling a very unexpected replacement, Jaroslav Chmelar.

Many fans have been expecting to see Brennan Othmann be re-assigned to the Wolf Pack after only making one appearance with the New York Rangers during their game against the Calgary Flames, since he was recalled on October 24th.

On the other hand, i don't think fans expected to see the New York Rangers recall Jaroslav Chmelar, who was drafted by the Rangers back in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, during the fifth round with the 144th overall pick.

Despite not many expecting the Rangers to recall 22-year old forward, Jaroslav Chmelar, the youngster has been putting on a silent show with the Wolf Pack as he had recorded five points (2 goal, 3 assist) in nine games this season. While tallying a total of 29 points (12 g, 17 a) in 71 games as a rookie with the organization just a season ago.

With that being said, it still remains unknown if Chmelar will get to make his NHL debut with the Rangers or just serve as an extra, while Brennan Othmann heads back to the AHL to continue to work on his skills.
