In an interesting public post, former Rangers forward and controversial personality Sean Avery made an appearance. With the start of training camp, Avery broke down top prospect Gabe Perreault's shift against the New Jersey Devils.

In the Prudential Center yesterday, the New York Rangers ended the 1st-preseason game against the Devils 5-3.
Gabe Perreault was present that night, as he'd tally a goal against the Rangers' rivals, the New Jersey Devils.
Perreault would end the night with 1 goal, 2 shots on goal, 2 giveaways, 20 shifts, and 15:38 on the ice, and a 100% percentage of face-off wins. Like Father, like son for that last statistic.
However, Sean Avery, a controversial personality in the Rangers community, would break down a shift of Perreault's:

Sean Avery's Take On Gabe Perreault

Gabe Perreault, aka "hot shot" according to former enforcer Sean Avery, had his shift broken down play by play.
At the beginning of the shift, he would compliment the former 1st-round draft pick, which we don't hear too often from Avery, who in some ways could be considered cynical. Regardless, Perreault would be hungry, hunting for pucks, and he'd get the cycle going after going up the wall.
Perreault would continue the battle for the puck against the wall with a Devils defender, and instead of taking the body, he'd take it to the boards, regaining possession of the puck, which would eventually lead to a pass.
"Hot Shot" would finish the shift with a goal after a centering pass, giving him his only goal of the night.
While you could see Avery making note of his missteps on the ice, including being out of position at one point, he'd recover and put the Rangers where they needed to be.
Perreault showed he's more than capable of handling his responsibilities on the ice, even though he sacrificed a few important parts of the shift.
Surprisingly, Avery came out of the review with a compliment for the young forward who is now the team's top prospect.
