The entire tri-state area including the New York Rangers unite to honour the passing of Larry Brooks
Earlier on Thursday morning, the hockey world was hit with some very devastating news as several reports confirmed the passing of a longtime Hall of Fame sports writer.
Longtime sports writer of the NHL, Larry Brooks, who dedicated the last 38 years covering NHL news and, of course, the New York Rangers, has sadly passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 75.
Throughout Brooks' 38 years with the Post, he became one of the more respected writers in the hockey community. Something that ultimately led to him being honoured in Toronto, as he received the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award, which is «in recognition of distinguished members of the newspaper profession whose words have brought honour to journalism and to hockey,» in 2018.
Since the heartbreaking news was confirmed, the New York Rangers organization and every other team in the tri-state area took to social media to issue a heartfelt statement commending the memory of Brooks.
