The NHL Department of Player Safety Comes To A Final Conclusion On Brennan Othmann's Controversial Hit

On Sunday afternoon, the New York Rangers took on their division rivals, the New Jersey Devils, for their first preseason game. During the game, their top prospect Brennan Othmann delivered a very controversial hit on Devils defenseman Calen Addison, which led to him getting a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

However, now that some time has passed from the incident, Rangers insider Vince Z. Mercogliano, has provided an update on what the NHL Department of Players Safety has decided to do regarding Othmann's hit.

After watching the video it's clear that Othmann's elbow came up on the follow through, which could persuade the NHL Department of Player Safety in making their decision on a possible suspension.

Thankfully for Othmann, that wasn't the case as Vince Z, Mercogliano confirmed that the league will not be taking any actions on Brennan Othmann.

This doesn't change the fact that Addison was forced to leave the game after he headed to the locker room to get looked over by medical professionals.

Certainly not the way Othmann wanted his first preseason game to go, as he had high expectations on making the New York Rangers opening-night roster. However, he got extremely lucky that the NHL DoPS decided not to take action.
