Tragic news strikes as a beloved sports writer has suddenly passed away

Mike Loftus, a well known sports writer covered the Boston Bruins for 31-years. Loftus even wrote for the Patriot Ledger and was respected among the sports community.
Many know mike for his dedication and has only ever missed one game for his son's collage graduation.
Sadly, Mike Loftus passed away at the age of 65 after a fight with cancer, leaving behind his loved ones and many colleagues.
Loftus was more then just a writer as he coached, officiated, and even joked about his skills as a "puck-losing defenseman."
Loftus saw the Bruins through highs and lows, covering everything from Stanley Cup runs to tough playoff losses. Even when budget cuts in 1998 restricted his travel, he kept reporting with the same energy.
Loftus longtime career came to an end in 2020 due to business changes and the pandemic, ending his long career.
On behalf of everyone at NY York Rangers we send our deepest thoughts to everyone who knew Mike Loftus.
