The greatest player of all time, Wayne Gretzky, is looking to make the sport of hockey, more easily accessible financially.

The Northlandhockey website had a news release on explaining how to make this goal achievable.
Gretzky had this to say:
I hope this will assist parents in finding an economical way for all boys and girls to achieve their dreams

Amanda Krupa, a writer for the Medium.com website, has this to say on the average cost for parents in investing their children to play the sport.
With costs averaging around $7,000 a year and souring to as much as $20,000 a year for some leagues, the sport, unfortunately, isn't accessible to many. The expenses of travel hockey alone can cost a family $2,000-$3,000 a year.

Let's hope more families will be able to get their children involved in the sport.
