Tragic News Leaves The Hockey World Mourning The Loss Of 45-Year Old Lithuanian Hockey Legend
More devastating news strikes the hockey community as several reports confirmes the passing of 45-year old Mindaugas Kieras, a Lithuanian ice hockey legend.
According to latest reports, 45-year old Mindaugas Kieras, who was a professional hockey defenseman, has sadly lost his life due to a kayaking incident on Saturday.
"We regret to inform you of the passing of Lithuanian ice hockey legend, Mindaugas Kieras, at the age of 45.
Kieras spent this past season with Hockey-Punks-2 (Lithuania), registering three goals, seven points through seven games played.
The defenseman holds the record for most games played with Lithuania's mens national team- 100 games from 1999-2017, scoring 15 goals, 47 points in that span.
Kieras played professionally in Lithuania, Belarus, Scotland, England, and Latvia over the course of his career.
At the time of his passing, he was also an assistant coach with Hockey Punks (OHL), and an assistant coach with Lithuania's men's national team

Many have reported that Mindaugas Kieras was a respected member of the hockey community, as many labeled him as a great mentor, leader, and a true "legend on the scoreboard".
Kieras has also reportedly help grow the game of hockey greatly in his region, and will forever be remembered.
