The New York Rangers captain is popular lately. After Sean Avery called out Miller, there was a chorus joining him. ESPN's Greg Wyshynski didn't shy away from an opportunistic shot against Miller today.
J.T. Miller was named the Rangers' 29th Captain at the start of the NHL season.
The Captain has seen a decline in production this season, scoring only 12 points (6-6) in 22 games. His play has been the subject of criticism this year, as Sean Avery has been one of many who think Miller stinks.
The Captain hasn't been setting an example for the team, and well, NHL Insider Greg Wyshynski is joining the fold of destroying the captain via harsh critiques.
Are the criticisms of J.T. Miller dishonest or just wrong?
While there are legitimate reasons to be suspicious of Miller's decline, these people rushing to pick apart the Captain's game piece by piece seem opportunistic.
Miller is a former 1st-round pick of the New York Rangers (15th overall, in the 1st-round of the 2011 NHL Draft) and was a firebrand when he returned to New York after the Filip Chytil trade.
Now, he's going to have to weather a lot more than criticism, but what could be an ongoing injury.
And criticisms that could damage his reputation, as above.
Miller has played 893 games in the NHL and scored 721 points (266-455) since 2012-13 as a Blueshirt, Vancouver Canuck, and Tampa Bay Lightning forward.
