New York Rangers forward, Brett Berard finally opens up on finding his confidence while being recalled to the NHL, something that took a hit after not making the Rangers' opening-night roster a month-and-a-half ago.
However, things unfortunately kept getting worse for the Rangers as veteran forward Vincent Trocheck was labelled as a game-time decision, and that captain J.T. Miller has been confirmed to miss tonight's game with an upper-body injury. Leaving Brett Berard no choice but to make his season debut against the St. Louis Blues.
Trocheck is a game time decision, Sullivan said. Miller is out.
Brett Berard on losing his confidence after being cut from the New York Rangers
Following the New York Rangers morning practice on Monday, Brett Berard met with the media and opened up on how his confidence took a hit after he was cut from the Rangers' training camp so close to their opening night, along with how he saw so many other prospects be recalled before him.
"I kind of lost a little confidence there. The first few games, it was hard to kind of get my game back. But I think it was also good and challenged my mental toughness, too, to kind of go through a little funk like that at the start of the year. So I think it was good, and especially the last two weeks, I've felt really confident in my game."
Berard unfortunately, had a slow start when he returned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, as he went without a single point throughout his first five games. However, things have gotten better for him as he has recently tallied 9 points (2G and 7A) in his last 12 games with the Wolf Pack.
