Two former New York Rangers veterans have made a recent announcement, and it's shocking.
Both Jaroslav Halak and Blake Wheeler, two former New Yorker Rangers players, have formally announced their retirement from the National Hockey League.

Halak played in 17 seasons within the NHL, where he played for the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, and last but not least, the New York Rangers.
He endured is final season during his 2022/23 campaign with the Rangers, where he recorded 10-9-5, a .903 save percentage (SV%), and 1.72 SV%.
Despite Halak being absent for the past two seasons, he never formally retired until this week, when he ultimately unveiled he stopped trying to make his appearance back in the National Hockey League.
«Last year I completed summer training ... but when nothing came of it, I told myself it was pointless. After that I didn't even try anymore," Halak stated. "I'm officially ending my career. I would like to thank my family, friends, fans and especially my wife Petra, who has been by my side my entire career.»
Wheeler endured 16 season within the NHL, where he played for the Boston Bruins, Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets, and the New York Rangers.
This veteran forward played his final season with the Rangers during the 2023/24 NHL season, and following his stint with the Rangers, Wheeler took a full season away from the National Hockey League before announcing his retirement.
«More or less, right after last year, I knew I was all done,» Wheeler said. «I just didn't have anything left in the tank.»
