A major development has surfaced in the New York Rangers finding their next captain, and it seems promising.

The New York Rangers are currently one of two teams in the entire National Hockey League to not have a captain to represent their organization.
The other team is the Boston Bruins, as they departed with their longtime veteran captain, Brad Marchand, in March during the NHL Trade Deadline.
Similar to Boston, the Rangers also traded their captain last season, when they dealt Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks.
With that being said, the New York Rangers are now in desperate need to name a new captain to represent this Original Six franchise.
And a recent report by Lucas Standel of The Hockey News, unveiled four potential captain candidates for the 2025/26 NHL season.

Four solid options for the New York Rangers as they look to name their next captain

Vincent Trocheck has been one of the more popular names among the Rangers' fanbase and has arguably been considered one of the heart and soul players for New York.
This could make Trocheck the perfect captain, as he offers the perfect amount of talent, skill, and drive to represent the franchise.
J.T. Miller plays a similar game to Trocheck, yet, he has been known to have had some locker room issues in the past.
Despite Miller not being the best fit personality-wise, that might be exactly what the team needs, a player who isn't afraid to hold back how he's feeling.
One of the most underrated names that has been brought up as a potential captain candidate is Adam Fox.
Fox grew up a Rangers fan and forced his way into the lineup after being with two different teams previously.
He bleeds red, white, and blue, and would represent the organization perfectly.
No Captain Named
Another direction the New York Rangers could go is waiting to name their captain until the 2025/26 NHL season begins, and it is possible they delay naming someone.
Majority of these players were in the Rangers' lineup last season and weren't able to help turn the season turnaround.
That being said, it might be in the best interest of the New York Rangers to hold off naming a new captain until someone steps up during the upcoming season.
