The truth behind why the New York Rangers have recalled two young players from the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday night has just been revealed.
On Sunday evening, the New York Rangers announced that they have recalled 23-year-old forward Brett Berard and 23-year-old goaltender Dylan Garand from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
UPDATE: Brett Berard and Dylan Garand have been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack and Scott Morrow has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Along with doing this, the New York Rangers have also decided to reassign defensive prospect Scott Morrow to the Wolf Pack, after just being recalled to the Rangers just over a week ago due to ongoing injuries on the defensive end.
However, not much of a reason behind why the Rangers decided to recall Dylan Garand has been revealed, at least until now, thanks to Peter Baugh of The Athletic.

According to several reports, it appears that the New York Rangers have recalled Garand from the Wolf Pack as just an insurance as veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick was injured after being run into during Saturday night's game against the Utah Mammoth.
Jonathan Quick got hurt in yesterday's game. Though he finished the game, Garand's call up probably isn't a great sign on his status.

Berard insurance for J.T. Miller (missed last night with a UBI), Garand insurance for Jonathan Quick, who took a hit late in last night's game. Will Borgen goes on IR to open a roster spot, which means they only have 6 D, and one lefty will have to play on the right.
So there it is, that's the real reason behind why the Rangers have decided to make this roster transaction.
